What is Pegasus Laser and How Does it Work?

We all want what’s best for our horses. We do everything in our power to ensure they have the best nutrition, the best trainers, and the best treatments. In comes the Equine Bodyworker. What is a bodyworker? It is someone who performs massages and “reads” the issues a horse might have by touch. There’s a lot more involved, of course, so for more information read my post on what it is and how it works.

In addition to the regular services, a bodyworkers will use a variety of tools to treat horses’ and help keep them happy and healthy. Among those is the Pegasus Therapy Laser.

What is a Pegasus Therapy Laser?

Pegasus Therapy Laser, commonly called the Pegasus Laser, is a cold laser (a laser not used to cut tissue) therapy that helps stimulate individual cells and promotes the horse’s healing by its own body. It is often used in conjunction with other therapy practices to give a holistic treatment.

What do the experts have to say?

John Pigott, a veterinary surgeon with Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists told Cornell’s Cynthia McVey that “There is good evidence that the laser has a beneficial effect on decreasing inflammation, speeding wound healing and improving the quality of repair in tendon and ligament injuries”

In fact, in a study of 150 sports horses suffering from injuries, the lasers showed “improvement of lameness” and a decline in re-injury rates.

Other Pegasus Laser Benefits:

  • Relieves pain

  • Alleviates arthritis symptoms

  • Improves circulation

  • Reduces scar formation

  • Stimulates acupuncture points

Why is Pegasus Laser only one part of my holistic approach to bodywork?

There is no one single solution to solve all equine body issues. In fact, although tools like the Pegasus laser work wonderfully, it is only when combined with a holistic approach to bodywork that you can maximize its potential.

Horses need more than lasers. They need touch, through which we can find many points of injury or pain and address important body needs.

I use the Pegasus Laser in my practice. I am available in the greater Central Florida area and Ocala. I can also be found at some horse shows, where I offer my services. If you need a bodywork specialist, please call or text me!

I can also be found on my Facebook page or on Instagram. Reach out or leave a message here. I’d love to hear from you!
